Girls get defensive to earn first victory

Lead Summary

Win or lose last Friday, the Nashua-Plainfield girls basketball team would have come back to practice on Monday ready to go to work.
Not that the Huskies’ 33-25 victory over Northwood-Kensett wasn’t savored; it just wasn’t a must-win situation, at least as far as coach Josh Smith was concerned.
“I don’t know; honestly I don’t think it was that important mentally,” Smith said when asked how important that first win of the season was. “It was nice to play well and get a win early in the year, but I don’t think the girls were getting down on themselves or anything yet. We’re young and learning, and I think the girls embrace that mindset.”
