Huskies win regular season finale

Lead Summary

What Sam Brown wanted from his Nashua-Plainfield boys basketball team last Friday night his Huskies delivered with a 64-55 win over Tripoli that ended up wrapping up the regular season.
“We had a nice game for ourselves on Friday night,” said the Nashua-Plainfield coach. “  We really did the things that we talked about in our pre-game and halftime.  … We scored a lot of our points in transition Friday night, and that was a huge key to victory for us.  That was the big difference maker in the first three quarters.”
And after their crossover game with Belmond-Klemme was called off for a second time, the win over Tripoli gave the Huskies momentum heading into the postseason, which begins tomorrow (Thursday) when Nashua-Plainfield takes on Turkey Valley in a Class 1A district game.
Against Tripoli, the Huskies took a 15-12 lead after one, extended the advantage to 35-25 at halftime and built the lead to 18, 54-36, heading into the final frame.
Austin Bienemann and Isaac Chambers led a balanced attack with 18 points apiece while Luke Cerwinske added 10.
Bienemann had 11 rebounds to record his seventh double-double of the season and also dished out five assists.
Meanwhile, John Krull finished with six steals and continued his stellar defensive play that has been a hallmark of his game all season long.
