Nashua-Plainfield wrestlers get off to a solid start

Before the season, the Nashua-Plainfield wrestling team set several goals — including having a winning dual-meet record and being more competitive in Saturday tournaments.
Well, the Huskies are off to a good start on both of those challenges as they opened the season last week with a 4-2 dual record and a strong third-place finish at Wapsie Valley’s Chris Davis Invitational.
“We’re getting a little better,” Al Frost said, “and as the week went on, I saw a some nice improvement.
“I’m not going to lie, we have to get a heck of a lot better, but we took some good steps for a first week.”
Nashua-Plainfield opened its season with a quadrangular at Waukon last Tuesday, and after falling to Oelwein 51-27, the Huskies rebounded with a 63-9 win over Waukon and a 54-14 victory over Postville.
Two nights later, Nashua-Plainfield headed the other direction for a quadrangular in Garner, where the Huskies beat GHV 55-22 and Mason City Newman 42-38 before falling to Top of Iowa Conference power Lake Mills 66-16.
The complete N-P results may be found in the Dec. 6 Reporter.
