Trojan boys claim another UIC title

Lead Summary

Turkey Valley needed certain things to happen to win their third straight Upper Iowa Conference title outright, and when South Winn beat North Fayette Valley Friday night by two points, that went a long way toward the goal.
But the TV boys knew they’d have to also win a make-up game on Saturday, which they did, over Clayton Ridge.
The Trojans — who won Friday over Postville — finished with a 14-2 UIC mark, one game ahead of the TigerHawks at 13-3.
“It was nice to come back and repeat as conference champs,” said TV junior Ethan Leibold. “We knew we needed to get help from other teams, take care of business ourselves and hope for the best and it all played out.”
Leibold, along with his teammates, had come back from the afternoon game at Clayton Ridge just in time to support the girls in the first round of regionals.
Turkey Valley’s winning streak with the pair of wins — 60-34 Friday and 45-29 against Clayton Ridge — extended to eight.
